Every Saturday for nearly 40 years I read to children at the Duluth Public Library. Some of those children now bring their grandchildren to visit me. I can still recite most of “Make Way for Ducklings” from memory, and I will, if asked.

“Mrs. Brooks” is fine when we first meet.

I spent 38 years as a school librarian, and I still have opinions about your book.
I'm a retired librarian, a stubborn gardener, and a lifelong fan of Ella Fitzgerald. I like a slow morning, a good crossword, and people who tell me what they're reading. I was married to Walter for 52 years, and I have two children and four grandchildren I'll happily tell you about.
“Knock, tell me your name, and give me a minute to finish my sentence. Then I'm all yours.”

Whatever you're reading, my tomatoes, Lake Superior
Best time to chat
Late morning, after my coffee and crossword
Speak to my right side
I hear best there. Face me and speak clearly.
Please don’t
Call me “sweetie” or “honey,” or rush my mornings
What makes me me
I'm curious about everything and I like to keep my hands busy. I have a dry sense of humor — if I tease you, it means I like you. I'm independent and I'd rather do something slowly myself than have it done for me. I grew up in a Swedish Lutheran family, and some of those traditions still mean a great deal to me.
